This undated photo pictures two children who remain a mystery on the edge of mill pond. 
The mill on the left has since been destroyed but the building in later photos seems to have still remained until about the 1940's.

Møller means "miller" in Danish. The spelling of the name is confusing because it has so many derivations.  Various relatives spell it Kresten or Christen Mikkelsen who did operate a mill here as his father had before him. He was born on this land. Just over the ridge in direction of the photograph probably less than a mile is the North Sea. This has to be a very tough place to grow grain and make a living for his large family.

These people were hardworking farmers and millers living in a windswept area just off the North Sea. This wind provides today much electricity for the region through a series of high-tech wind generators near Nissum.

The short growing season and climate still controls much of the activity and economy of the area, predictably creating a group of people that can put up with great adversity and are very persevering.

According to Lars Balleby, researcher who has checked the records above against the original documents, the private baptism was given when the child was ill or unable to find a vicker known as "hjemmedøbt".   Church baptism would happen later known as " Fremstillet i kirken".

An email from Per Møller Jensen Aug. 18. 2006 about Mads Christensen:

1831, 29 Mar - Birgitte Marie Christendatter marries Christian Michelsen Møller in Sondbjerg, Thisted, Denmark.  [LDS marriage records]

1834 Census. Thisted.  Christens and Birgitte have only been married for a couple of years by this census.  Mikkel Poulsen Møller, his father, is also living in the household at age 67.  Another girl is here probably as household help. 

1840 Census, Thisted.  This census shows that his father is still alive at the age of 73.
